I have a DOLBY® Pro-Logic 3-D Phonic television with line level outputs at the back of the set for front, centre and surround. How do I add surround speakers?
You cannot add speakers directly to such outputs and you would need to use an amplifier as well as speakers.
The Instruction book will normally give you directions on how to add not only just the surround but also the front and centre amplifiers and speakers. However, it is quite possible to add just one stereo amplifier connected to the sockets marked "Surround Rear" "L" and "R" with appropriate leads and then hook up your speakers to the amplifier as per the amplifier's instructions. Afterwards, in the menu select "DOLBY PRO LOGIC", set the television speaker mode to "L.R." (left and right) and the "Centre Mode" to "PHANTOM" if your television does not have a built in centre speaker and "NORMAL" if it does. Now the front and centre signal will come from the television and the surround from the amplifier and speakers. you can then adjust the surround sound output using the amplifier's volume control.
For surround sound speaker placement information please read the "Positioning speakers" information in your instruction book or read the hints and tips available in our "DVD AND HOME CINEMA" section of the FAQ's.
It must also be noted that some of the models introduced from late 1999 had built-in amplified speaker outputs for the surround speakers. Please refer to the chart below.

I have purchased what the shop claims to be a "100Hz" television. However when I look at the label on the rear it only mentions "50Hz". Have I been sold the wrong product?
Probably not. The "50Hz" mentioned on the rear of your television relates to the frequency of the mains power system used in the United Kingdom. This cycles the voltage at 50Hz (50 times a second). This does not directly relate to the frequency at which the tube in the television is scanned. The JVC models listed below feature 100Hz scanning:
AV-32WP2EK AV-32WL1EK AV-32P10EK AV-32WFP1EK AV-28X10EK AV-32L5EK
Additonally, the HV-32D25 model features 1250i lines of resolution via D.I.S.T. technology, with a 75Hz scan rate.

I have a new JVC widescreen television. When the picture aspect ratio is is set to "Auto", it switches image size and shape all the time. Is this normal?
This is normal. The "Auto" setting will try to determine the best picture image ratio for the images it receives. For example if the program you are watching shows clips of widescreen or letterbox movies, the television will switch between, say "Full" mode and "Panoramic" mode automatically.

I have now a SCART connection between my television and video recorder. Do I still need my normal aerial leads?
You would still need to have a connection from your roof top aerial to your video recorder and, from there, an aerial lead connection to your television.
